James Cameron y Kathryn Bigelow por el Óscar PDF Imprimir

James Cameron y Kathryn Bigelow, cineastas y ex pareja, confirmaron sus opciones al Óscar tras obtener hoy una candidatura en la categoría de Mejor dirección por "Avatar" y "The Hurt Locker", respectivamente, según anunció la Academia de Hollywood.

Junto a Cameron y Bigelow resultaron nominados Lee Daniels, por "Precious"; Jason Reitman, por "Up in the Air", y Quentin Tarantino, por "Inglourious Basterds".

A pesar del éxito en taquilla de "Avatar", que ya ha superado los 2.000 millones de dólares de recaudación en todo el mundo, y el triunfo de Cameron en la reciente ceremonia de los Globos de Oro en la modalidad de director, las opciones de Bigelow al Óscar son sólidas.

La cineasta de filmes como "Point Break" (1991) superó a su ex pareja el pasado fin de semana en los galardones anuales del Directors Guild of America (DGA) y se convirtió en la primera mujer en alzarse con ese premio.

Días antes se adjudicó el Critic's Choice Awards que concede la Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards, la mayor asociación de críticos de norteamérica.

"The Hurt Locker" fue nombrada también la Mejor de 2009 en esos galardones y lo mismo consiguió la semana pasada en los Producers Guild of America (PGA), que contra pronóstico prefirieron el filme de Bigelow, modesto en presupuesto e ingresos, a la obra de Cameron, la millonaria "Avatar".

Las opciones de Daniels, Reitman y Tarantino en esta carrera por la estatuilla parecen remotas a estas alturas.
Cameron es el único de los nominados que ya cuenta con un Óscar de dirección, el que consiguió en la gala de 1998 por "Titanic"
